Pianist and fiddler of outstanding sounds, Tom Terrien provides us with "10 Years", a compilation of his latest productions, released only on digital until now. To reinforce a more human approach, he decided to reinterpret his compositions, minimizing electronics to focus on organic sounds. To begin with “Soothed”, Terrien indulges the listener in a spatial encompassing universe, before taking them into a sort of a Prokoviev, Pierre et le Loup 2.0. With the tune “Cat, Birds, Window” he gives us layers of picturesque atmospheres, where we can hear birds, clicks out of his heater’s thermostat and breaths with traces of beautiful life which gives it a human touch. The warm voice of Julien Barbagallo can merge into a hybrid sound microcosm and coexists with balance. Then we climb in altitude with “Slae's Airlines” progressive takeoff to cosmic intoxicating strata. The piano, which is the main character of the album, takes its full dimension in “10 Years” and “Bright Feathers Within” on which haunting bass lines sneak like a meandering river encountering many dangers, but is never afraid of the obstacle. The duo Phonestare / Phonerang make us feel as if the drops are falling with joy and serenity before a climatic and multi-layered finale. 10 Years gives the listener 10 majestic feel good tracks and allows them to let loose and let the mind wander weightless.
